Only a handful of schools have publicly offered a scholarship to Bronny James, LeBron James’ oldest son. However, that doesn’t mean Bronny can’t attend whichever school he wants, and that is based on what his dad had to say.

The King himself weighed in this weekend on his son’s options as he stares down the homestretch of his recruitment, and made one thing clear: Bronny does not have limited options.

“I think Bronny can go to any college he wants to,” LeBron said in an interview with The Oregonian. “All I have to do is pick up the phone. If Bronny says he wants to go there, he’s good enough.”

Many have taken to social media to call out LeBron on his privilege.

If he was that good you wouldn’t have to pick up the phone ??‍♂️ https://t.co/g1nFwO085U

This week, his options were reportedly pared down to a final three of USC, Ohio State and Oregon. However, James downplayed the idea that Bronny had narrowed his schools down to three options, instead saying his son had a “top five or six” list he’s considering.

Bronny has developed into a borderline five-star recruit who may have one-and-done potential. As one of the top 30 players in the class of 2023, Bronny James is one of the most sought-after recruits for the next college season.

LeBron has stated many times he won’t retire until he gets to play alongside his son in the NBA.
