Meghan Markle had claimed that her 2018 engagement interview with Prince Harry was like an “orchestrated reality show”.
Loose Women’s Jane Moore has weighed in on BBC presenter Mishal Hussain’s recent comments about her sit-down chat with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
The BBC presenter, 51, interviewed the Sussexes in May 2018 about their engagement.
The former Suits actress later claimed in the 2022 Netflix docuseries *Harry & Meghan* that the interview had been heavily staged.
In Saga Magazine’s August issue, Mishal, whose career started in 1998 with BBC World News, expressed surprise at Meghan’s comments and said she “didn’t know what to make of” the duchess’s remarks.
“What I remember about that day was two people who were excited about their engagement and in love,” she said.
“They seemed to have thought through what their new lives would be like and what marriage would mean for her life in particular. There was nothing that pointed to what would happen.
“It was two people who were full of joy in each other and life.”
Reacting to Mishal’s latest interview, Jane addressed the controversy in her latest column, where she referenced claims Meghan wanted Oprah Winfrey to conduct the interview.
The US presenter would interview the Sussexes in a tell-all chat three years later.
Writing in her column for The Sun, Jane wrote: “To add insult to injury, Meghan reportedly wanted Sussex cheerleader Oprah Winfrey to conduct the interview and remarked that Mishal ‘wasn’t empathetic enough, wasn’t warm enough’.”
She concluded: “Which we all know actually means, ‘wasn’t sycophantic enough’.
During Harry & Meghan, Markle claimed her interview with Mishal had been “rehearsed”.
When asked if they were told the questions beforehand, she said: “Yeah. But then also like ‘and then there’ll be a moment when they’ll ask to see the ring.’
She continued: “My point is we weren’t allowed to tell our story because they didn’t want [it].”
Harry added: “We’ve never been allowed to tell our story… that’s the consistency.”
Meghan Markle’s assertion that her 2018 engagement interview with Prince Harry was akin to an “orchestrated reality show” continues to spark debate and scrutiny within the media.
The Loose Women’s Jane Moore recently shared her thoughts on BBC presenter Mishal Hussain’s reflections on her own sit-down chat with the Sussexes in May 2018.Hussain, a seasoned journalist whose career spans back to 1998, expressed surprise at Meghan’s claims in the 2022 Netflix documentary *Harry & Meghan*.
The BBC presenter recalled the engagement interview as a moment filled with love and excitement, with the couple appearing to have meticulously considered their future together. In response to Hussain’s comments, Jane Moore delved into the controversy in her latest column, highlighting Meghan’s reported preference for Oprah Winfrey to conduct the interview.
This preference sheds light on the duchess’s expectations for a certain level of empathy and warmth, qualities she felt were lacking in Hussain’s approach.
Meghan has since revealed that the interview with Mishal was scripted, with predetermined questions and moments designed to convey a specific narrative. This revelation further fuels speculations surrounding the authenticity of the Sussexes’ public image.
As discussions surrounding Meghan and Harry’s media interactions persist, it is clear that the nuances of celebrity interviews and public perception continue to shape the narrative around the royal couple. Stay tuned for more updates and insights on this ongoing story.
