Coronation Street icon Stephanie Beacham has opened up about her distaste for her time on Strictly Come Dancing in 2007.

The 77-year-old actress, who partnered with Vincent Simone in the fifth season of the hit BBC show, was the second celebrity to be eliminated.

The former Dynasty star has previously discussed her experience and recently told the Daily Mail about her dislike for the demanding “dawn to dusk” schedule of the series.

The actress, who is also preparing for a role in a new film called Duchess, expressed: “I loathed every minute of it. It wasn’t for me.”

She added: “I would say if you really want to lose 10lb, and work from dawn to dusk, and you don’t mind all your hard work and sweat being filmed?

“Go for it, but it’s not something you’d do for the money. It’s a darn sight tougher than that.”

In 2022, Stephanie, known for her role as Martha Fraser on Coronation Street, described her Strictly experience to OK! as “absolutely hateful”, despite confessing she remains a “fan” and praising Anton Du Beke.

She competed against celebrities such as Kelly Brook, Kate Garraway and Alesha Dixon, but it appears unlikely she will participate in any future reality TV shows, having also dismissed the idea of appearing on Dancing on Ice.

Stephanie admitted she “choked with the laughter of it” when asked if she would consider joining the ITV ice skating programme.

The acting legend, who has been a fixture on our screens since the 1960s, spoke to Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley on Good Morning Britain in January, discussing her two latest film projects.

Yet, it was her seemingly ageless looks that captivated the hosts, with Susanna commenting on the Corrie veteran’s “secret to eternal youth”, alluding to the movie Forever Young.

Probed on how she maintains her “fabulous” appearance, Stephanie attributed it to eating “well” and suggested that perhaps good genes play a part.

She disclosed that her mother remained “glamorous until she was 85” and described it as a “whole lifestyle”, mentioning she “never saw her in slippers”.
