Vito Coppola sparked the same reaction from his fans and followers as he reunited with Ellie Leach almost a year after they were revealed as one of the couples on Strictly Come Dancing 2023.

The reigning champions were brought back together on Wednesday night (September 11) as the National Television Awards 2024 took place at London’s 02 Arena.

The annual star-studded ceremony saw familiar aces from the small screen descending on the capital to recognise another 12 months of gripping TV shows and brilliant performances.

And among the big winners on the night were Strictly Come Dancing as ahead of the debut of their 20th anniversary series this Saturday (September 14), they picked up the talent show gong, despite the BBC show facing a storm of controversy over the alleged treatment of contestants.

Co-host Tess Daly thanked all the fans who voted for them, saying the win is a “wonderful gift” ahead of celebrating two decades of the TV dance contest.

Fellow host Claudia Winkleman also praised the “most wonderful team” behind the programme and the “brilliant celebrities who take part”, adding: “This means everything.”

Among those helping the hosts collect the award were Ellie and Vito who lifted the Glitterball trophy back in December after going from strength to strength throughout the 21st series.

On Thursday (September 12), Vito took to Instagram to share a bunch of images from the night alongside Ellie.

The dancer and the former Coronation Street star were seen posing in the auditorium in front of the stage while they were also snapped holding onto the show’s latest piece of silverware.

Alongside the post, which Ellie also shared, Vito wrote: “WE WON! We are so so happy for the last night winning at the NTAs National Television Awards @officialntas. What a night!!!

“Thank you all for voting for us. Without you all this would not have been possible. We can feel your love and we appreciate you massive support.

We love what we do and we are lucky and privileged to be where we are. We won all together, as always like a Family, because this is @bbcstrictly.


“We love you and we can feel all your love. Today it’s a sunny day and Lulú and I want to send you all our best positive energy and wish you a beautiful day. Lulú & Vito.”

Fans were quick to respond with many still holding out hope for a romance between the pair, despite them consistently saying they are and will remain friends for life.
