Denise Welch shocked her Loose Women co-stars during Thursday afternoon’s episode as she detailed her secret health woe.
The TV personality, 66, said she was completely ‘freaked out’ after undergoing ‘life-changing’ surgery on her eyes.
Denise underwent lens replacement surgery because she was fed up of wearing and cleaning her glasses all the time.
She said she couldn’t even see the audience or autocue if she didn’t have her trademark black-rimmed glasses on.
The actress said: ‘I’ve had lens replacement surgery. I’m sick of wearing glasses all the time and I’m sick of them being dirty. I cannot keep my glasses clean so I’m absolutely sick of it.’

She added: ‘I can honestly say it’s freaking me out a bit because normally the audience is a blur to me from here unless I put my glasses on. I can see the autocue.
‘It’s unbelievable! I haven’t had the one where I can read, so I still have to have glasses for that.’
Speaking about the procedure, she said: ‘It was incredible, the surgeon spoke to me all the way through. It was a bit like being in a space ship, he taught me through it but if you are thinking about having it, do it.’
Denise, who has been an active panelist on the show since 2005, recently claimed that her stint on Loose Women had a ‘knock-on effect’ on her acting career due to her ‘opinionated’ views.
In a recent interview on The Number With Darren Kennedy, Denise said: ‘I think resilience is a good word for me, yeah. Yeah, I think so. I think it’s always been about, as you get older in this business now, is about remaining relevant, you know.
‘And doing Loose Women has been wonderful for me. Does it affect your acting career? Yes, it does. You know, if you become known as somebody who’s very opinionated.’
She added: ‘And also because of Loose Women, my partying and everything kind of played out a lot in front of people and what’s it. So it did have a knock-on effect on my acting career.
‘But then again, it’s given me other opportunities that my acting career wouldn’t have given me. You know, forays into reality television, some bad, some good.’

Denise teased a new look during Tuesday’s episode on Loose Women after the panel joked she would ‘under go a transformation’ in the ad break.
She was joined by fellow hosts Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan and Brenda Edwards as they discussed women’s experiences of hair thinning.
Ruth explained how she gets hair extensions to improve the thickness of her’s and often wondered if her should have it long instead.
Sharing her thoughts, Denise said that she didn’t think older women suited long hair, prompting a makeover of her own.
As promised after the break, she waltzed back into the studio wearing a long blonde wig, much to the amusement of her co-stars.
