Miley Cyrus Ties Mariah Carey’s All-Time Billboard Record

Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” is the song that just won’t quit. While the smash has vanished from most Billboard charts, it is still present on one radio ranking in the U.S.—and it’s made history as it holds on.

“Flowers” is steady on the Adult Contemporary chart this frame. The tune isn’t just still living on the list of the most successful cuts on AC radio stations in the U.S., it’s in charge once again.

Cyrus’ Grammy-winning hit has now spent 55 weeks at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. That’s absolutely a best showing on that specific ranking, but it’s also a long enough tenure on top that the singer matches a record set by another one of the most successful vocalists of all time.

According to Billboard, “Flowers” is now tied with Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” as the song with the most weeks on top of any of the company’s radio charts. Her seasonal smash has so far racked up 55 stays on top of the Holiday Airplay list.

While not all of Cyrus’ 55 frames have been in a row, she has only taken short breaks from running the show on the Adult Contemporary chart. “Flowers” was released in January 2023, and ever since then, it’s been performing well on the tally, but Carey’s journey has been very different.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” rules a chart that is inactive for many months each year. The Holiday Airplay ranking isn’t organized and published by Billboard in the spring or summer, for obvious reasons. The tune returns when the list is reignited, and it regularly controls the tally, as its one of the most successful Christmas cuts ever.

“Flowers” shows no sign of slowing down. It’s likely that in a few days, Cyrus will beat Carey’s record when her single earns a fifty-sixth week at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Carey’s generation-defining hit will also surely spend more time on top of its list, though it won’t be able to add to its sum for months, and there’s no telling how much longer “Flowers” will have dominated by then.
