Rylan Clark was left red-faced during the latest episode of This Morning as bosses played a throwback clip of the presenter on The X Factor.

Rylan Clark declared in sheer disbelief, “I didn’t realise I was on  telly!” after nearly slipping up during a live broadcast of This Morning.

The popular ITV presenter was caught off guard on the show’s latest episode (August 10) when he was unexpectedly confronted with a nostalgic clip from his times on The X Factor.

With fellow host Dermot O’Leary revisiting the location of Rylan’s memorable bootcamp performance from 2012, viewers saw Rylan enthusiastically singing Respect alongside two other hopefuls.

Embarrassed by the blast from the past, Rylan exclaimed: “Do you know what this is… no! You’re lucky when you put picture-in-picture up I nearly said something. Didn’t realise I was on telly.”

He then revealed some behind-the-scenes secrets, expressing gratitude towards the makeup artist from his X Factor days: “Second of all, make-up Bernice, she actually sewed those extensions onto a top for me for bootcamp.

“That’s Bernice’s handiwork. This is just payback because I walk in every morning going, ‘I don’t read the briefs, I don’t read the script’ and clearly I don’t! Because I didn’t know that was happening!”

Fellow host Josie Gibson couldn’t help but coo over Rylans younger self, asking him, “You were only a baby! How do you feel watching that?” to which Rylan responded with an air punch, proudly stating, “I done all right in the end!”

It was a subtle yet defiant reminder to The X Factor judges that despite being typecast as the ‘joke’ act, he has indeed carved out a successful career for himself in  television, reports the Mirror.
