Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has voiced an intriguing proposition for the Argentine star Lionel Messi, who currently plays for Inter Miami.
The Norwegian stated that he considers Messi to be the best footballer in the world at the moment. Haaland suggested that Messi should retire so that someone else could emerge as the best.
“I’ve won it all but I’m only 23, so I want to win it all again. Messi is the best that has ever played, maybe he has to retire for someone else to be regarded as the best.” said Haaland.
Earlier, Haaland revealed which club he could have joined before moving to Manchester City.
In the current season, the 23-year-old Norwegian striker has scored 28 goals in 31 matches for Manchester City in all competitions.
The Cityzens currently occupy the second position in the Premier League, trailing Liverpool by just one point. On Wednesday, March 6, Pep Guardiola’s side will play the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Copenhagen.
