For those who weren’t paying close attention, it would seem that Lainey Wilson came out of nowhere to become an overnight success after dropping Bell Bottom Country in 2022. While the album made her a breakout success, it was the third full-length in her discography. She has been working tirelessly to build her career in Nashville since 2011.
However, Wilson started chasing her dream of being a star long before she moved from Baskin, Louisiana to Music City. She started singing, playing guitar, and writing songs when she was in elementary school. Not long after that, she started impersonating Hannah Montana at birthday parties and other events around her hometown. So, it comes as no surprise that she wants to collaborate with Miley Cyrus.
Lainey Wilson Wants to Collaborate with Miley Cyrus
Visiting the Grand Ole Opry as a little girl gave her the desire to be a country star. So, when she became a member of the Opry family earlier this year, it was a full-circle moment for her. Working with the real-life Hannah Montana would be another. “I would love to do something with Miley Cyrus,” she told the publication. “I used to impersonate Hannah Montana. It would only make sense we had the best of both worlds,” she added.
While Cyrus and Wilson’s styles aren’t exactly the same, the two have plenty in common artistically. For instance, both are prolific songwriters. At the same time, both women look to Dolly Parton for inspiration. Miley is Dolly’s goddaughter and Lainey has been vocal about her admiration of artists like Reba McEntire and Parton.
“I think about those ladies that continue to stay true to themselves, but weren’t scared to step outside the box and drop things that sound a little scary,” she said of Parton and McEntire. “You kind of get thrown into the fire and figure it out, and that’s what I’ve decided to do,” she added.
