A furious debate erupted after a guest claimed Brits should reconsider flying the Union flag over associations with the “far-Right”.
Eamonn Holmes stormed: “Don’t lecture me!” after a guest loudly objected to him suggesting that flying the Union Jack flag was “no big deal”.
The GB News clash culminated in the guest insisting: “I understand racism more than you!” Eamonn indignantly shot back: “Give me a break!”
Claxton, which has a population of just under 300 people, had hoped to erect a flagpole as a patriotic symbol outside the village hall.
However, claims have been made that it could “scare people away” and deter them from moving there.
A local resident has complained that “the flag is often used as a symbol against immigration” and therefore could be “used in the wrong way”. However, Eamonn hit back: “What’s the big deal?”
The guest then went on the offensive, exclaiming: “Eamonn, I’m not going to let you get away with that… be considerate of other people’s beliefs and views.” Remaining calm, he told her: “You don’t have to lecture me.”
When she asked who had the “loudest voice” in the debate, Eamonn replied: “You at the moment!” which made her appear even more enraged.
During the conversation, a panellist defended right-wing views, saying that some Brits feel “dispossessed” and that they’re “losing their neighbourhoods” and communities to mass immigration.
He added: “They’re deeply disturbed by what they’re seeing in this country.”
Meanwhile, viewers took to the comments section online to share their rage.
“Get this nutter off! It’s people like her who make our country divided!” one exclaimed.
The debate over the flying of the Union Jack flag continued to escalate as tensions ran high between Eamonn Holmes and his guest on the GB News show.
Despite Eamonn’s insistence that it was “no big deal” to fly the flag, the guest vehemently disagreed, citing concerns about the flag being associated with the far-right and racism.
As the discussion unfolded, the guest asserted her expertise on the matter, claiming to understand racism better than Eamonn. This led to a heated exchange where Eamonn defiantly responded, “Give me a break!”
The guest urged Eamonn to be more considerate of different beliefs and views, sparking a back-and-forth that showcased the divide on the issue.
The controversy stemmed from a small village in Norfolk, where residents were divided over the decision to fly the Union Jack flag.
While some saw it as a patriotic symbol, others feared it could send the wrong message and deter prospective residents. The debate raised questions about the use of national symbols in today’s society and the underlying tensions surrounding immigration and identity.
Viewers watching the clash unfold online expressed their own opinions, with one viewer calling for the guest to be removed from the show. The conversation touched on deeper issues of national identity and belonging, highlighting the complexities of modern society.
Despite the differing perspectives presented on the show, the debate ultimately shed light on the broader issues at play in society today.
The discussion served as a microcosm of the larger debates surrounding nationalism, immigration, and cultural diversity in the UK and beyond.
As the conversation continues to evolve, it is clear that the topic of national symbols will remain a contentious and divisive issue for many.
