Ant and Dec bagged themselves the Best Presenter gong at the National  Television Awards for the 23rd time – after they were first awarded the title back in 2001.

And Declan Donnelly, 48, revealed he believes they won thanks to the adorable lucky charm his daughter Isla, six, gave him ahead of the ceremony.

As the pair graced the stage once again at The O2 arena, Dec revealed in their sweet acceptance speech that Isla wished him good luck as he dropped her off at school that morning.

He told the crowd and ITV viewers: ‘My little girl Isla she said ”good luck Daddy I hope you win the trophy, take my lip balm it may give you good luck.”‘

Holding up the tiny lip balm, Dec continued: ‘Isla it worked! We won! Well done darlin’.

Dec shares daughter Isla, six, and son Jack, 13 months with his wife Ali Astall.

He continued: ‘Our lives have changed so unbelievably, over the last six years since we got very small children. Back in the day we would be partying all night.’

He joked: ‘Now we’re going back to dirty nappies and the school run.

‘It’s really hard to put into words how this feels and how much it means to us that you make us your winners.

Ant added: ‘It is a joy and we know one year were not going to win it and it’s not tonight thank god. Thank you to our beautiful wives and families and sorry we work so much but we will have some time off now’.

The duo later took to Instagram to pose with their awards as Dec added that Isla will be ‘thrilled she owns officially a lucky lip balm’.

They penned: ‘It’s hard to find the words to express how grateful we are to everyone that took the time to vote for us again this year. We are truly humbled.

‘”Thank you” doesn’t seem to be enough but it says it all. Isla is gonna be thrilled she owns, what is officially, a lucky lip balm’.

‘They’ve been overwhelmed with lovely messages from friends, family and fans and are still wading through them. They are incredibly grateful to everyone.

‘They chose the name, Wilder, a while ago but have deliberately kept it a closely guarded secret. They are going to be absolutely wonderful, doting parents and Ant cannot wait to be a hands-on dad, changing the nappies and just spending time with little Wilder.’

Ant has been candid in the past about his desire to have children and he publicly spoke about how he had been trying for a baby with ex-wife Lisa Armstrong.

The couple were childless when they filed for divorce in 2018 after 11 years of marriage. Ant and Anne-Marie tied the knot in 2021.

When the news of Anne-Marie’s pregnancy was revealed, it was claimed that Ant was over the moon because he didn’t think fatherhood was on the cards for him.
